Many of us look forward to the warmer months that are right around the corner. While images of sitting on the porch with a cold drink in our hands and the sun on our faces is probably appealing, there is another aspect of summer that might not be as pleasantly anticipated: putting on those shorts, tank tops or swimsuits! Over the winter months, it’s easy to cover up the parts of our bodies that we aren’t proud of. However, when the temps heat up, no one wants to wear long sleeves and pants to cover up unwanted body fat. CoolSculpting can be a good option for those who have areas of excess fat that they want to reduce with non-surgical treatment. While CoolSculpting is not a weight loss tool, it can be used to deal with those stubborn pockets of fat that don’t respond to diet or exercise. CoolSculpting is non-invasive and gets you summer-ready with a handful of treatments. How many treatments? Read on to find out!
What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a cutting-edge treatment that destroys fat cells by freezing and crystallizing them. After the fat cells are crystallized, the body flushes them out of the system. After a cycle of treatments, most patients see a 20-25% reduction in fat in the area treated over the course of three months. If more fat reduction is desired, additional treatment cycles may be made. CoolSculpting has been used to successfully treat areas of unwanted fat in the following areas: chin, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, upper back, upper arms, under the buttocks, knee area, and breast area in males.
How Does the CoolSculpting Process Work?
The CoolSculpting process is non-invasive and takes place in Dr. Waltzman’s clinic. When you arrive, you will lay down in a manner that the doctor can easily reach the area to be treated with his CoolSculpting applicators. As the device is passed over the treatment area, you will feel a cooling and tugging sensation, but this should not be uncomfortable. The process should take between 35 minutes and one hour to complete. You are free to read, watch movies, work on your laptop, or simply relax during the treatment. Once your treatment is finished, Dr. Waltzman will talk to you about post-treatment instructions, and you are free to go back to work or home. There is no downtime associated with the CoolSculpting treatment.
How Many CoolSculpting Treatments Will You Need?
All CoolSculpting treatments are done in cycles. Depending on the amount of fat you want to get rid of and results you are expecting, you could expect anywhere from one treatment cycle to multiple cycles. Each patient is different, so the only way to know exactly how many treatments you will need is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Waltzman. An average number of treatments for those who want to get rid of a small amount of abdomen fat is two treatment cycles. It typically takes around four weeks to three months to start seeing results from the treatments, so scheduling your CoolSculpting procedure as soon as possible is a good idea so you can see results in time for summer. Most patients will continue to see results for up to six months after the treatment as the body continues to flush the crystallized fat cells from the system.
Knowing if CoolSculpting is Right for You
If you have a generally healthy lifestyle, are not significantly overweight, and have pockets of stubborn fat that will not respond to diet or exercise, you are probably a good candidate for CoolSculpting. Though the results from this treatment are not instant as they are with liposuction surgery, many patients prefer this non-invasive treatment due to the lack of downtime and excellent results. If you are hesitant about putting on those shorts or that swimsuit this summer, you need to schedule a consultation with Dr. Waltzman. He can fully explain the CoolSculpting procedure, answer any questions you have about the treatment, and estimate how many cycles you will need to achieve your goals. We all want to look forward to the warmer months, and stubborn areas of fat should not keep you from enjoying the summer! Schedule your consultation today to see if CoolSculpting is right for you!
