How Does a Sculptra® BBL Work?
To understand a Sculptra® BBL, you should know a bit about this unique dermal filler. Sculptra® is an injectable treatment originally developed to restore volume and shape to areas like the cheeks and chin or to fill deep lines and wrinkles. Unlike most dermal fillers, it works by triggering your skin to form new collagen and provides a scaffold for this collagen to boost your skin’s volume.
Sculptra® has become popular as a dermal filler for several reasons that make it particularly suitable for a BBL. Along with being able to add a significant amount of volume by boosting collagen, it also lasts longer than other fillers. It produces gradual results instead of abrupt ones, so no one has to know you have had the procedure.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Sculptra® BBL?
Sculptra® has been used safely for BBLs for years and has fewer risks than a surgical BBL procedure. Most healthy adults are good candidates, but it’s important to have realistic expectations and understand that your Sculptra® results will not be as dramatic as a surgical procedure.
While Sculptra® is safe for almost everyone, you should not have injections in an area where you have an infection or active skin condition. People with certain medical conditions may not be eligible, and fillers are not recommended while you are pregnant.
What Can a Sculptra® BBL Treat?
A Sculptra® BBL is ideal for those who want to add shape and volume to their butt without surgery or a long recovery time. It can decrease the appearance of minor skin laxity but will not correct severe sagging, so the best candidates are dissatisfied with their buttock size and projection but do not have much loose skin.
What Results Can I Expect From a Sculptra® BBL?
Most people will see their best results with two Sculptra® sessions spaced about two months apart. You will typically start to see results after a few months, with full results taking three to four months to develop. You will notice that your butt looks firmer and fuller, and for many people, the first noticeable sign is how they look in their clothes.
Once established, the new collagen from your Sculptra® treatments can last two years or more. Results vary, so your nurse injector will work with you to develop a schedule that keeps your butt looking round and lifted.
What is Recovery Like After a Sculptra® BBL?
After you receive your Sculptra® injections, you can return to your daily routine without limitations. However, you may have minor swelling or bruising in the injection area that can last a few days. Unlike a surgical BBL, which often requires weeks of recovery time, a Sculptra® BBL has no downtime and fits into even the busiest and most active schedules.
