Breast Augmentation With Lift

vIN LONG BEACH, CA AND SERVING LA, ORANGE COUNTY AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgery in the world. Millions of women in the United States enhance the size of their breasts with breast augmentation through silicone or saline implants every year. However, breast augmentation only increases your chest size and volume. It may not be the only procedure you should consider if you are hoping to revitalize and transform the look of your breasts.

Another procedure known as a breast lift can contour and lift your breasts using your already existing breast skin and tissue. Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Waltzman, can combine breast augmentation and lift into one combined procedure.

The Waltzman Institute is a top destination for breast surgery. Our highly qualified plastic surgeon is an expert in breast and body surgery and is trained in the most cutting-edge techniques. If you would like to learn more about breast augmentation with lift in Long Beach, call our practice today.

Learn More About Breast Augmentation With Lift

Your Consultation for a Breast Augmentation With Lift

Your consultation is an opportunity for you to get to know Dr. Waltzman and learn why so many women trust him to create their desired breast shape and size. Dr. Waltzman uses this time to understand your goals and aspirations so he can develop a plan that will provide extraordinary results. You will have time to ask questions and discuss aspects of your procedure, such as the type of implants you prefer.

How Does a Breast Augmentation With Lift Work?

The success of breast lift with implants is due, in part, to how implants not only build fullness but also add volume. During the procedure, your plastic surgeon can remove excess tissue, create a rounder, perkier breast, and add precious volume for a fuller cleavage. The procedure also presents the opportunity for surgeons to resize sagging or stretched nipples and position them higher on the breast mound.

At The Waltzman Institute, our board-certified plastic surgeon works with your unique profile and your anatomy to ensure your breasts will still retain their natural form and characteristics. Dr. Waltzman performs his breast lift procedures using either a vertical or Wise (anchor) pattern, time-tested techniques that remove excess skin, lift the breasts, and reshape the breast mound.

He’ll perform the breast augmentation first by creating an incision in the inframammary folds (the creases below the breasts). Then, he’ll create a pocket either over or under the muscle and insert the implant.

After that, Dr. Waltzman will create an incision around the areola and another incision that goes from the areola down to the breast fold. He’ll create a pedicle, a bridge of tissue that establishes a blood supply to the nipple, and then move the pedicle and the nipple higher on the chest wall. Dr. Waltzman will then reshape the breast mound and remove excess tissue. Once the breast has a nice, round shape, Dr. Waltzman will close the incisions.

Dr. Waltzman will perform your treatment in a Long Beach hospital or surgery center where he has hospital privileges. This type of procedure is done under general anesthesia with a board-certified anesthesiologist, so you will need a trusted friend or family member to drive you home.

Dr. Waltzman can complete both surgeries in one appointment, but in some circumstances, he may need to perform it in two stages. If Dr. Waltzman has determined that your skin is healthy and has excellent elasticity, he’ll proceed with a single-stage procedure. If your skin has substantial sagging or if you want somewhat larger implants, then Dr. Waltzman might stage the breast lift with implants into two procedures. Your lift will be first, and then three to six months later, you will return to have your implants inserted.

The surgery is an outpatient procedure; once it’s over, you’ll be able to go home to recover. Dr. Waltzman and his team are available to answer any questions or concerns you develop during your healing process.

A breast augmentation procedure aims to enhance the volume, size, and fullness of your breasts, but it cannot restore shape, improve droopiness, or contour them. The breast lift procedure lifts the breasts, fixing issues such as sagginess and droopiness by improving the natural contours of your breasts, but it cannot enhance the size or restore lost volume. With combination surgery, you can achieve the benefits of each procedure simultaneously.

There are many reasons to consider a Long Beach breast augmentation with lift, including:

More Personalized Results

Breast augmentation with a lift in Long Beach gives you complete control over your final results. You can improve the shape, size, fullness, firmness, proportion, and symmetry of your breasts. You can adjust subtly, dramatically, or anywhere in between–exactly as you wish.

Fewer Incisions, Less Scarring, And Less Harm

One convenient procedure means fewer incisions, scars, stitches, and harm to your skin.

Shorter Recovery Time

A combination of Long Beach breast augmentation and breast lift will only require one recovery stage to heal from both operations.

Am I a Candidate for a Breast Augmentation With Lift?

Most women who opt for this treatment are looking for both improved skin firmness and an increase in cup size. A breast lift alone won’t increase the volume of the breasts.

Dr. Waltzman also discourages women with sagging breasts from solely undergoing augmentation because the weight of the implants could worsen the drooping. Adding an implant to a drooping breast could also mean the implant won’t look centered if the rest of it sags below the breast fold. To get around these limitations, women who have unique concerns choose a comprehensive treatment plan.

In general, patients should also be in relatively good health before undergoing cosmetic surgery. Patients should also have realistic expectations for what their procedure can and can’t do.

If the patient is concerned about loss of breast volume, they may consider adding implants to their breast lift. This will increase the breast volume and fullness but also lift the breast into higher placement, as opposed to adding significant volume and weighing the breast down.

For many women, breast size, shape, and position are a source of feeling feminine. However, changes to the body can change breasts in more ways than one. You may consider having a breast lift if you have ptosis caused by weight loss, breastfeeding, loss of volume in your breast, or excess skin laxity and are unhappy with your nipple placement and breast fold.

What Results Can I Expect from a Breast Augmentation With Lift?

Not all breast augmentation procedures are alike. Most patients are familiar with traditional breast augmentation and breast lift procedures. While each is effective, they both address separate issues.

A breast lift with implants brings the best of both procedures to help Long Beach patients improve cleavage and fullness in the top portion of their breasts. By removing excess skin and adding an implant, breasts sit higher on the chest wall and appear fuller and firmer. It’s truly ideal for women who want perkier, more youthful breasts without sacrificing fullness and volume.

Though our practice is pleased to offer both breast augmentation and breast lift as separate procedures, we always recommend that our clients combine the procedures for superior results. If you are considering multiple plastic surgery procedures, it is often preferable to combine them in one session. We highly recommend combining two of the most popular breast enhancement procedures for perky, youthful breasts.

Your surgery often results in an anchor-shaped scar that goes around the areola, down the breast from the areola to the breast fold, and horizontally across a portion of the breast fold. For many patients, the horizontal scar is not visible under the fold of the breast.

When the incisions first start to heal, the scars will look red and somewhat raised. Over the next few months, the incisions should gradually flatten and fade. After about a year, they should be fully healed and often inconspicuous.

There is no guarantee with any breast surgery that you will be able to nurse after surgery, but most patients find that they are still able to breastfeed after having breast surgery.

What is Recovery Like After a Breast Lift?

Your recovery will depend on whether you undergo a singular or staged procedure. For most patients who opt for this combined procedure, recovery will be slightly longer than a typical breast lift, but it is much more consolidated.

Breast surgery patients tend to feel some soreness, tightness, numbness, and swelling. You’ll have a supply of pain medication to help with any discomfort, but many of our patients have reported the recovery as being very tolerable. Often, you’ll be able to switch to over-the-counter medications after just a few days.

Your muscles and breast tissues will need to heal substantially during your recovery, so Dr. Waltzman recommends patients take it easy for the first month of their recovery. You should not work out for at least the first four weeks of your recovery, but after a month, you can ease yourself slowly into your normal regimen.

We ask patients to take one to two weeks off work to recover from surgery. If you have a much more physical job, you may have to take more time off work. How much time off you may need will be discussed during your consultation.

With a staged procedure, you’ll have your breast lift performed, and then you’ll wait four to six months for the tissues to settle. After that, Dr. Waltzman will add the implants. In the end, whether you had a combined or staged breast lift with implants will all depend on how your body heals.

Immediately after your treatment, your breasts may seem high or tight. Over time, the breast tissue will begin to settle into a more natural appearance, which can take a few months.

Since every patient is different, a plastic surgeon cannot guarantee that you will have complete sensation back in your nipples; however, the majority of patients report having full feeling back in their nipples at roughly one year post-op. Any incision risks damaging the nerves and potential loss of sensation.
