If you can believe it, chemical peels have been around since the 1800’s. Although far less advanced than the peels we use today, they were definitely a pioneering effort that lead to the ZO® 3 – Step Peel™, which is the preferred in-office peel used by Dr. Waltzman and his team.
This innovative 3-step peel is great for all skin types and targets acne, melasma, fine lines/wrinkles, poor texture, dullness and large pores. With a minimal amount of social downtime following the treatment, and an at-home regimen that produces long lasting results, this truly is something to consider when researching aesthetic rejuvenation options.
How Does it work?
Step 1 – The peel solution is applied to the skin in order to achieve a moderate exfoliation.
Step 2 – The skin is stimulated on a cellular level for deep collagen enhancement, firming, and wrinkle reduction by the application of the stimulating Retinol Crème.
Step 3 – The calming Revitatrol™ Epidermal Repair Crème is applied and works to minimize inflammation, redness and irritation that the first two steps may cause. This step also restores the balance of moisture in the skin.
A series can be repeated every 4 weeks for deeper repair. However, *glowing results, and brighter/tighter skin can be achieved with just one treatment.
How is this peel superior to others?
The ZO® 3 – Step Peel™ has a dual action function that enables the Retinol Crème (Vitamin A) to go inside the cell in order to stimulate cellular function at the dermal level. This allows for repair of damage (discoloration, rough texture, fine lines etc …) at the epidermal level. Although most peels are great at exfoliation, this peel sets itself apart due to what occurs in Step 2.

What to expect after the treatment
Slight peeling and redness is to be expected 2-3 days post treatment and should subside within 5-7 days depending on the patient. After care instructions and an at home regimen will be provided after the peel. It is important that patients follow post-treatment instructions accourdingly.
Is there a more aggressive treatment available?
Dr. Waltzman also offers the ZO® Controlled Depth Peel™ which is recommended for patients with dermal issues such as severe skin laxity, scarring, advanced melasma, or severe texture damage. This peel will most likely require sedation, but will have excellent anti-inflammatory benefits which allow the maximum amount of skin tightening and pigmentation correction.
