Blepharoplasty in Long Beach

Although our eyes communicate who we are to the world, that can change when we get older. As we age, our skin loses precious elasticity, making our eyelids droop and sag. Our eyelid muscles and the fat pads around the eye can also shift and droop, creating a puffy, hooded look to the eyes. These changes all add up to a perpetually tired, exhausted look that doesn’t reflect who we really are.

But with blepharoplasty in Long Beach, Dr. Josh Waltzman can lift drooping lids to give you a more vibrant, refreshed look. Patients no longer have to worry about puffy lower lids, saggy upper eyelids, or obstructed vision. With an eye lift in Long Beach, they can look as vibrant as they feel.

Dr. Waltzman is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon known for his natural-appearing blepharoplasty results. It’s not just his immense knowledge of facial aesthetics and extensive training that allows him to create stunning outcomes – it’s his dedication to tailoring the blepharoplasty for his Long Beach patients’ particular needs. By customizing each procedure, Dr. Waltzman can rejuvenate you without changing your unique eyes.

What Can Blepharoplasty Do?

What Can Blepharoplasty DoBlepharoplasty will remove excess skin, tighten muscle, and sculpt the fat in the eyelids to create a more youthful look. It can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or even both at the same time.

Eyelid surgery can also help Long Beach patients whose vision has been obstructed by drooping lids.

Is blepharoplasty always the ideal choice for aging eyes? Not necessarily. Dr. Waltzman knows that facial aging is much more complex than that. There are some cases where a brow lift might be more apt.

Why is it so essential to determine whether you also need a brow lift? One reason is that heavy, drooping eyelids are sometimes caused by a drooping brow, too. If a patient needs both a brow lift and an eye lift and only a blepharoplasty was performed, the patient’s issues may be exacerbated.

The quality of your skin may not be necessarily addressed by a blepharoplasty, either. Luckily, an eyelid lift can also be combined with many non-surgical procedures. If you want, Dr. Waltzman can perform a peel that’s gentle enough to work around the eyes to improve fine lines and dark circles.

How the Blepharoplasty Is Performed

The blepharoplasty will be performed in a surgical center or a hospital in Long Beach where Dr. Waltzman has privileges. The surgery itself can be performed using a local anesthetic, IV sedation, or general anesthesia. Dr. Waltman will make a recommendation for which anesthetic to use during your consultation.

To perform an upper blepharoplasty, Dr. Waltzman will create an incision in your eyelid crease. Dr. Waltzman will then remove excess skin and fat.

For the lower blepharoplasty, Dr. Waltzman can create an incision on the inside of the eyelid, which covers up any scar that appears. This incision will give him access to the fat pads covered by the inner lining of the lower eyelid. Then, he’ll reposition the fatty tissue until the lower lids look nice and smooth. If there’s an issue with excess skin in the lower lid, Dr. Waltzman will create an incision along the lash line and remove some skin.

Both should subside in about 3-5 days after your procedure. However, it is important you refrain from using make up or concealer to hide any bruising for at minimum of 7 days.

An upper blepharoplasty addresses skin laxity on the upper eyelids and can alleviate excess skin on the upper eyelids. A brow lift lifts the eyes and other areas of the face to alleviate skin laxity in multiple regions of the face.
