5 Skincare Tips During Pregnancy

Weight fluctuations, mood swings, uncertainty, cravings — each of these makes pregnancy hard. It also doesn’t help that many skincare methods are not suitable and unsafe for pregnant women.

But fear not – follow these tips from Dr. Josh Waltzman and enjoy that glowing skin throughout your baby-bearing journey.

1.    Keep Up the Cleaning

Every morning and every evening, after and before bed, clean your skin with a gentle, pH neutral, soothing balm cleanser. Don’t do this more than twice a day, though, or you’ll dry out your skin.

Be gentle with your skin as you clean, and remember you only want to remove the grit and grime from the hard day with your cleanser. Leave the scrubbing to the exfoliation to protect your sensitive skin.

2.    Exfoliate Twice a Week

Exfoliation helps remove the build-up of dead skin cells, which can lead to an uneven and undesirable complexion.

But be sure not to overdo it. Too much exfoliation will lead to removing too much of the protective layer of skin, potentially damaging it.

3.    Careful on the Cravings

We crave some funny things when we’re pregnant – and while your body craves things for a reason, try to avoid overindulging in the sugars and deep-fried foods. Your skin will suffer for it.

4.    Keep Hydrated

Drinking enough fluids during pregnancy is essential to healthy body function and skin. Your skin can become dehydrated when you don’t drink enough water, so make sure to keep your fluids up.

5.    Consider a Self-Pampering Facial

It’s important to treat yourself, especially during pregnancy, but you may not have the chance once that babe is born! Getting a facial can be the perfect choice for soon-to-be-mums to revitalize their skin before the big event. We will make sure your facial is entirely safe before ever beginning a treatment.
