With so many wrinkle-fighting treatments and procedures today, finding one that works for exactly what you want and need can be difficult and overwhelming. More people are turning to minimally invasive methods to tighten their skin and achieve a more youthful appearance, but choosing a brand requires asking the right questions—for example, what exactly is Jeuveau®, how does it work, and what makes it different from other neuromodulators like Botox® and Dysport®?
At The Waltzman Institute in Long Beach, CA, we run a practice where patients can receive exceptional care in a comfortable, professional environment. Everything from neurotoxins to dermal fillers is available with our skilled nurse injectors. Here, we’ll provide some insight on Jeuveau® to help you reach a decision on the best treatment option for your aesthetic plan.
Jeuveau® is a neuromodulator injection into facial muscles to treat facial wrinkles. Similar to Botox, Jeuveau® stops your nerves from signaling your facial muscles to move, resulting in the temporary smoothing of moderate to severe lines between the brows. In addition, Jeuveau® uses a purified botulinum toxin like Botox to treat dynamic facial wrinkles.
Jeuveau® uses a slightly modified form of botulinum toxin different than that of Botox®. Botox® contains onabotulinumtoxinA and Jeuveau® uses prabotulinumtoxinA. After many clinical trials, it has been determined that both compounds share a similar safety profile and are equally effective at treating wrinkles.
Jeuveau® is the first choice for Dr. Josh Waltzman and our aesthetic nurse Carissa Brown for treating glabellar lines, most commonly known as the “11 lines,” that fall between the eyebrows after years of frowning, squinting, and scowling. It also effectively treats crow’s feet, laugh lines, and forehead creases.
A Jeuveau® treatment at The Waltzman Institute is quick, easy, and comfortable for most patients. Before administering Jeuveau® injections, we use a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area. Many of our patients prefer this approach so that their treatment is done comfortably and without pain. Micro amounts of Jeuveau® are then injected into marked locations on the face for flawless precision. The entire treatment usually takes 15 to 20 minutes, and patients can go about their usual activities immediately after.
Our skill providers will discuss the minor differences between Botox®, Dysport®, and Jeuveau® with you and explain how they will help you reach your goals. From there, you can work together to decide which brand will work best for you.
If you have stubborn creases between your eyebrows or crow’s feet, Jeuveau® might be the perfect solution for smoothing these stubborn wrinkles. For more information, call The Waltzman Institute at (562) 448-6100 or contact us online to schedule your consultation!
